Pixel + frame
PIXELFRAME is an international conference that brings together researchers, academics, students, industry professionals, artists and practitioners from around the world. The conference explores the intersections between animation, video games and visual narratives, creating a platform for the exchange of knowledge, creative practices and emerging research.
The conference features keynote lectures, scientific paper presentations, panel discussions, workshops and masterclasses that encourage dialogue between academia and industry. Participants will explore how animation, video games and visual narratives continue to shape cinema, digital media and interactive experiences.
By promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, PIXELFRAME encourages the exchange of ideas between researchers, professionals and students. The conference aims to strengthen international networks while supporting innovative approaches to animation, game design, visual storytelling and digital media.
The name PIXELFRAME represents the convergence of digital technology and visual storytelling. It reflects the relationship between the pixel, the foundation of digital creation, and the frame, the essential element of cinematic and narrative expression, bringing together creativity, design and technology within a single concept.

Call for papers
We welcome original research papers, practice-based projects and creative work exploring animation, games and visual narratives. Submissions may be theoretical, technical, artistic or interdisciplinary.
For every stage of the journey
Bachelor’s students are invited to attend talks, workshops and networking activities. Master’s and PhD students are encouraged to submit papers, practice-based projects and creative work. The conference is designed to create useful encounters across academic and professional contexts.

PIXELFRAME takes place at Oriente Green Campus, in Lisbon. The venue sits close to the Parque das Nações, with direct connections to the airport, Oriente station and the riverfront.
